REVIVAL BURDENS #6

God of endless mercy, God of unrelenting love,
Rescue every daughter, bring us back the wayward sons
And by Your Spirit breathe upon them
Show the world that You alone can save

The scripture is a prophetic book. And to a large extent, we determine the side of prophecy we fulfil. Nonetheless, the prophecies of scripture will be fulfilled.

God took His prophet, Ezekiel, on an excursion in the Spirit to illustrate, demonstrate and declare what He intended to do for His people. Of a truth, the people of Israel were in need of spiritual revival as they were compared to not just dead men, but dead dry bones with no hope of revival. Yet in that state, God was going to bring life again. What really matters is not what the situation is but our profession about the situation.

We are going to walk through that experience. It’s not just a story of an event in the past, it’s a prophecy of what God intends to cause us to experience at this time, even right now.

“Son of man, can these bones live?” It’s a question that God also asks us. This is a question you should take personally concerning your life and the people you represent. This question God asked was to prove Ezekiel. It is just like Jesus asking Philip where they could get bread to feed the five thousand people who gathered unto Him. “And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do” (John 6:6).

The answer of Ezekiel demonstrates alignment and fills submission to God’s will. “O Lord GOD, thou knowest.” How that we through our confessions have choked out every strand of hope that yet remains. We’ve hindered ourselves from seeing the manifestation and even being instruments through which the manifestation is birthed because we in our belief downplay God’s ability to do the impossible. Yes, we acknowledge that the bones are many and very dry, but we more than that acknowledge God’s ability to do as He will and bring life again to the dead dry bones.

When Jesus told Martha that her brother would rise again, she took it as Him speaking of an event that will happen in the last day. Jesus had to douse that perspective by revealing Himself as the I AM. “I am the resurrection and the life…”, He said. While we know that there is a resurrection to take place at the end, there is a present reality of resurrection that we can experience. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.” It shall come to pass, but it happens even right now. Even as you read this article, you can experience the present reality of resurrection from any state of death and lifelessness, even if it appears to be a hopeless situation. One thing that happens to us which is the reason we don’t really experience the provisions of God is that we restrict God. If only we can open our hearts to receive the fullness of life in Jesus Christ the life beyond what we have stored up in our heads as the things which God can do.

“It is the Spirit that quickeneth”, Jesus said, “the words I speak are Spirit and life.” And so the instruction the LORD gave to Ezekiel was “Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. The prophet of God has no word of himself. The only word that is capable of bringing change is the word of the Lord. Permit me to define “the word of the Lord”. The word of the Lord is that which comes from the heart of God and is spoken by the Spirit of the Lord. The empowerment strategy of God to equip His ministers to speak as His oracle is to put His words in their mouths and His Spirit in their hearts, and so, every word spoken by them is as potent as if it were spoken by God Himself.

God asking Ezekiel to speak reminds us that though God has good plans and thoughts for His people, He needs an entrance through an earthen vessel for His purposes to be brought to pass. Will you rise as the prophet of God over your life, family and territory to speak unto the dry bones and every seemingly hopeless situation that they may rise and live? The word of God is in your mouth, the word of Faith for God has put His words in your mouth to speak all that He commands you.

God is reordering and realigning hearts and His people. Bones are coming together, and spiritual synergies and partnerships are taking place. If the church of God will rise as an army, each member of the body must find his place and fit into it. If we will experience revival in the church, bones must come together. There must be a uniting together of members. We must come and be in one accord with one petition and desire: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” Only then will we experience the fullness of the promised outpouring of God in the last days. Psalm 133 says “How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity…for there the LORD commandeth the blessing, even life forevermore.

“Come for the four winds of the earth and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.” The people of God have been slain by sin, worldliness and the like, but there is a remedy that causes life to come again. It is the breath of God. The breath that came into man at the beginning and made him a living soul. That same breath can come into your life, your space and the church causing life to spring forth again and spread to the ends of the earth. Even right now, the breath of God comes into you as you believe and receive by faith causing everything dead to live again.

Arise o army of God! Rise from the ashes, rise from the dead. Receive the breath of God and live!

  1. I accept the life offered through Christ Jesus, breathe Your breath of life upon me Lord, and cause everything dead in me to come alive.
