WITH GOD

There are situations we encounter in life that lead us to ask, “How shall these things be?”, just as Mary asked in Luke 1:34. The stark realities of our frailties, incapabilities and insufficiencies stare us in the face and we wonder how that vision will come to pass and how that word will be fulfilled, which the Lord has spoken to us.

The definite Answer to the numerous questions that run through our minds is the One who is not detained or constrained by our limitations, but who has all power to do all things without being questioned. GOD! Once He is brought into the equation, the complex puzzle that appears to be without a solution comes to a dissolution.

The disciples of Jesus asked Him, “Who then can be saved?” These circumstances and conditions are way beyond our mortal abilities. His response was, and is, even now, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” (Luke 18:26)

The circumstances that grievously reveal the frailty of our humanity are the same circumstances that gloriously reveal the beauty of His Divinity. “With men, it is impossible but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:26)

To answer Mary’s question and the question that largely troubles our minds, the angel said, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon you and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35). This is to the end that we may make our boast in Him and that all glory might be His.

As at the beginning, where the earth was without form and was void, with darkness covering the face of the deep, we would have asked what the solution to that complexity would have been. “The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” The Spirit of God translates us into God’s realm where all things are possible.

Then, God spoke the Word.

Joseph dwelt in the dungeon, bound with fetters until the time that His word came. The word of God unlocks the possibilities in God and releases them to us as keys to open the doors that have long hindered and constrained us.

He sent a man before them, Even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: whose feet they hurt with fetters: He was laid in iron: until the time that his word came: The word of the LORD tried him.

Psalm 105:17–19

With God nothing is impossible. Now, this extends the possibilities that are in God for us to possess and express. Jeremiah said, and God confirmed it, “Ah LORD God thou hast made the heavens and the earth by thy great power and outstretched arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.” (Jeremiah 31:17). But Jesus also says that If you have faith and speak to mountains to move, they will, and nothing will be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17:20).

“With God” goes beyond what is entrenched in God’s power to do to that which is possible unto us by our partnership with God, through faith. David said, “By thee I have run through a troop; and by my God, have I leaped over a wall. (Psalm 18:29)

When Jesus said, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these, He was transferring, as it were, the mantle of possibilities unto us.

These possibilities are realised through faith. The angel sent to Mary concluded His message saying, “With God, nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37). Mary believed these words, partnering with God to bring forth the impossible.

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which are told her from the Lord.

Luke 1:45

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which are told her from the Lord. (Luke 1:45)

Blessed are you who believe the word of the Lord, for now, the Lord will hasten His word to bring it to pass. Amen! Lord, for now, the Lord will hasten His word to bring it to pass. Amen!
