God is ready, ever ready to move
Would you let Him?
God is ready, ever ready to speak.
Would you listen?
We oftentimes think that God delays. We say we are waiting and expecting Him, but we don’t realise that it is God who is waiting for us. What does the scripture say? “And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.” (Isaiah 30:18)
Psalm 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

God desires to be sought. Hear the heart cry or a seeking Psalmist O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary (Psalm 63:1-2). Also, Proverbs 8:17 “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”
The Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. Also, the Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness. (Isaiah 59:1; 2 Peter 3:9)
God has always been known to be the One to take the first step. For the redemption of man, God took the first step. In fact, He has completed His part. What’s left is for the men for whom the sacrifice was made to appropriate it through faith.
We asked last week, “Wilt thou not revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee”. I hear God say, “I desire to and have been waiting to. You’re not just ready, you’re not aligned with me”. God, Himself has said that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear (Isaiah 65:24). How is this possible? It is because a heart alignment has taken place. In 1 Kings 18, Elijah prayed and the fire of the Lord fell upon the altar. His prayer was, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
The content of the prayer, though short, is striking and exemplary. It’s evidence of alignment. First, the contest was not about him, but about the Lordship of God over Israel, and didn’t originate from Him. How that we invite God into things that He didn’t instruct? We design our own plans and programmes and then call on Him at the nick of time to show up.
He mentioned that God had turned the hearts of the people back again. Even though the fire had not been revealed, there was already a realignment taking place in their hearts. They had seen the emptiness and futility of their worship of Baal – a god that cannot hear nor deliver in a time of need. Why did Elijah ask the prophets of Baal to go first? God usually allows us to go our own way until we realise that there is no other way but Jesus. He is patient and waits till we come to the end of ourselves. God dwells in eternity and is not bound by time, so at what instant we are ready, we will realise that God already is. God can leave you to your own way because eventually, you’ll come back having discovered it was a dead end.
The rich man didn’t forbid his prodigal son from going into a far country with his inheritance though he would have known that he’ll squander it. You may have been heading in your own will, way and direction, but God today is calling you back to your base, back to Him.
Elijah repaired the altar that was broken down. Israel had really gone far from God to the extent of destroying the altar of God (1 Kings 19:10), but it had to be repaired. You desire revival in your life, repair the altar. If you can’t even find the stones, rebuild another. Find your secret place back.
Elijah’s prayer was also in time. “It came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice…” As much as God is available everywhere at every time, there are specific times and seasons, as God has put in His power where there is unusual access, a moment in time which God has chosen to manifest dimensions of eternity that the world may see and marvel. In such a time as this that we find ourselves, we know that the Spirit of the Lord is moving like at the beginning all over the earth. If we can plug in at a moment like this and make our prayer unto God, we will see the manifestation of Light where there once was darkness and the fire of revival in our hearts and the Church.
Lord, we know that you are ready, and every ready. You are seeking men who will seek you with all their hearts, who will plug in at this moment of your move, and so we come and ask that you align our hearts to your will, you bring us back to the place we ought to be, you repair our broken altars, you stir our hearts to seek You – to seek Your face and Your glory. Take away every idol in our hearts and let us come before you in the sincerity of heart. We pray you to send your fire to burn upon our altars again, and even in your Church, that all men may bow and acknowledge You as God in Jesus’ name. Amen!
