LOOK FROM THE PLACE WHERE THOU ART – As Far As You Can See

Genesis 13:14 – 15 KJV
And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

The New Living Translation puts it this way:
After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.”

In the last post where I shared a word that God spoke to me, “As far or high as you can dream or day, by My power, I’m able to take you there”, we see that the limit to how much of God and His power we experience is the level of our faith.

Today’s post is sort of an extension of that in a different dimension.

A while ago, I had a trip to the city of Abeokuta, Ogun state, Nigeria, where I visited the Olumo Rock. Apart from reminiscing about my first visit there over 7 years ago, it was altogether a new and beautiful experience.

As I looked at the pictures I took, the Spirit of God brought deep insight which forms the basis for this article.

Standing upon the top of the rock provided a platform to see beyond my present location and a large expanse of architecture and establishment. God told Abraham, Look from the place where you are.

The question to you is Where is the place you are? Where are you standing? Your sight is a function of your height. Everyone that God wanted to reveal great things to had to come to an elevated place. John heard a voice which said, “Come up hither and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”

The encounter that Moses had which set him on course with destiny was on the mountain of God. The picture and template of the tabernacle were also received on the mount. The vision and picture of your future and all that God intends to deliver unto you will not be vividly captured except when you stand and view from an elevated place. Your vision will be limited if it is gotten from the low place of trends and patterns in society. Because what God has prepared for you is beyond what eyes have seen, ears have heard and what has entered into the hearts of men.

God is unlimited and there are endless possibilities with Him. My view of the city from the place I stood isn’t all there is to the city but all I was able to see which is the extent to which I can appreciate and substantiate. The limit to how much we can possess is to the extent of what we are able to see. The possibilities you are able to experience and express are limited by the possibilities you can perceive. And so, the first thing God helps us with is our sight. God said to Joshua, “See, I have given into thine hand Jericho…” God wanted him to see, not hear, that Jericho was already conquered when as yet the city was fully fortified.

To Jeremiah God said, See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms…” God desires to forge our sight into the reality He has ordained for us before we step into it. If you can see it, then you can seize upon it.

God will constantly ask Jeremiah, “What seest thou?” Even now this question comes to us. “What do you see”

What you see can either set you in the direction of destiny or on the path of destitution and destruction. The motivation for Eve eating the fruit they were instructed not to is that a picture was painted before her eyes. “She saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise.

Habakkuk said, I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what He will say unto me…” He wasn’t watching to hear but to see what God would say. Write the vision. He wasn’t merely going to write an utterance he heard, but a vision that was captured in his heart from a communion with God.

God told Abraham to look from the place where he was and not at the place where he was. He was only a pilgrim where he was, dwelling in tents, but God needed him to see from where he was into who he would become – the possessor of that land.

Don’t look at where you are, look from where you are. Your present condition shouldn’t define and constrain your vision. Look far ahead of you, you’ll realise that what you see has no end. “Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them…So shall thy seed be.”

As far as you can see. God is not limited in what He can do, but what we experience and possess is capped by the extent of our perception. Expand your horizon. See beyond where you are, see far into the eternal and endless possibilities available in God.

Mount up the mountain of God, catch the vision and picture of your future, write it and run with it. Again, the Lord says,

As far, as high
As you can dream and dare
By My power
I’m able to take you there

Welcome to a new month and a new season of endless possibilities.

I believe this blessed you. Let me hear from you in the comments.
