STRIKE

The last post is here, in case you missed it.

So much is said and taught about Elijah’s transition to heaven and how Elisha received the double portion of his spirit. An event also occurred towards the end of Elisha’s life on earth, which we don’t hear much about but want to look at today. I believe it’s a word for this time as there have also been confirmations, one of which I will share a link to at the end of this post.

Elisha was sick and then the King of Israel, troubled by the Syrians, came to Him. This was the last recorded event about Elisha before his death. By many indications, he was at a Kairos, a time without duplicate. Actually, time has no duplicate we can never have another day with this same date.

The king was given prophetic instructions but failed at the last one. He was given an opportunity to decide the outcome of the battles with Syria but failed to adequately utilise it.

2 Kings 13:18-19 KJV And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

Prophetic instructions are like OTPs (One-Time Passwords). They have a time-frame for utilisation and God doesn’t give them twice, particularly because He cannot be boxed and always wants to show Himself as God who cannot be contained, programmed or predicted. If we check through the scriptures, we will find that even in situations that appear similar, God always gave unique instructions. God commanded Moses to smite the rock when there was a need for water on their journey. At another time, God said, “Speak to the rock” but Moses smote the rock and by that action was denied entrance into the land of Canaan. God said He was not hallowed in the eyes of the children of Israel.

Coming from Egypt, they encountered the Red Sea. God’s instruction to Moses was to stretch forth his rod over the sea. When they came to Jordan, the instruction was that the priests bearing the ark should step their feet in the river.

The life and battles of David also demonstrate this. In 2 Samuel Chapter 5, after his anointing as king over Israel, the Philistines came up against him. Enquiring from the LORD, he was instructed to go. Not long after they came again. David was wise to ask for the new “code”. This time, he was not to go up as before but to lay and wait for a sound – the goings on the mulberry trees.

All the battles that Israel fought and prevailed, right from their entering into the land of Canaan were never with the same strategy. This is an added layer of security by God for your destiny and much more for His eternal plan.

The devil cannot predict what God intends to do with your life or hack into your destiny. God has coded these things in eternity, and over and over again, satan has continually failed in discovering and interrupting God’s eternal plan for His people. 1 Corinthians 2:7 – 10 “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”

If you will enter into what God has ordained for your life, then you will have to receive the “OTP” for your destiny at every point in time. This is the word from the mouth of God, instructions to guide your life at every season, as the scripture says that man “shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

Every attempt to predict the workings of God for us leads to an embarrassing defeat. The only nation that defeated Joshua, which was because he didn’t receive the OTP for that battle, Ai, thought to predict God’s workings and strategy for victory, they were embarrassingly defeated. The Syrians also said that the LORD is the God of the hills, and not of the valleys. A hundred thousand footmen of them went down in one day. A wall fell on the rest of them that escaped.

The other side to it is that if we miss a prophetic word in its season, we cannot apply it to another season. Where we fail to lay claim to and maximise the opening by a prophetic word, we might miss that opportunity forever. The widow in 2 Kings 4 was instructed to gather as many vessels, and after that the oil stayed, if she had attempted to borrow new vessels and fill them up, nothing would have happened that’s why there is no record of that event happening twice.

The same is what this king was faced with. It was an unusual opening with an instruction, “Smite the ground.” He wasn’t given another opportunity to smite the ground. The action he already took had decided his fate in the warfare with Syria. “…because you smote only thrice, you’d smite the Syrians thrice.”

One thing that fascinates me is that the victory over Syria wasn’t a linear relationship with the number of times he smote. Because Elisha said, “If you had smitten five or six times, then you’d have smitten the Syrians till you have consumed them but because you smote only thrice, you’d smite the Syrians thrice.”

There’s a threshold we hit that opens up unlimited possibilities. Just like in the digging of a well. There is a strike that bursts open the fountain and an endless flow ensues from that well. If you could commit just a little more you would have hit the point of your breakthrough. That instruction that God gave you to, as it were, smite the ground, you’ve not yet hit that threshold that opens up the unlimited dimension. Like Elijah said to his servant, “Go again”. There is a sign that will be manifested indicating that what you have seen afar off is now breaking forth.

“Smite the ground.” Engage the word, engage the prophetic. The prophetic opens doors of possibilities for those who can latch unto them.

Opportunities in seasons of transition. Seasons of transition open up possibilities and possessions that can be gotten. The night Israel left Egypt, everything they asked the Egyptians, they got. Elijah was transiting and the possibility of possession of grace was available for the one who took advantage of it. You’re transiting to a new season and there’s an opportunity to determine what your possibilities will be.

The arrows in your hand are to be engaged. Smite the ground. The hand of the Lord has come upon you. Grace and help have been given unto you. It’s just for you to engage it.

Engage the word. Engage what God has given to you. Engage the arrows in your hand. By this, you can determine the many years to come. The first opening is that God has granted you a vision of many years to come. You can shoot an arrow into them.

Don’t limit the possibilities that can be expressed by your unbelief. I shared in the last post that there are unlimited and endless possibilities with God. You might need to for a moment suspend your calculations for your calculations can peg your manifestation.

The Lord says, “Strike.”

Check out this video on YouTube, one of the confirmations I had to the fact that this was a word for this time. https://youtu.be/fVe9EM8Q0gM?si=fl7sbFz0-_XKHbzg

Trust that this blessed you. Let me hear from you in the comments.

  1. This is a very profound and instructive piece.

Amongst other lesson, a lesson that stood out for the fact that how one more ‘strike’ or a little more digging deep could be what a Christian needs to get to that stage of unlimited possibilities.
But because of spiritual shortsightedness, we tend to stop striking or digging at the stage we deem fit.

A great one indeed, great lessons here for me

One, sometimes we trivialize divine instruction not knowing they are like OTPs and may not repeat themselves. Wow!!!

Another, we shouldn’t presume God’s next move and instructions but always anticipate and expect to hear from him.

finally, whenever the divine OTPs come we should utilize it to the fullest and strike at the opportunity

      Thanks for sharing
