MARCHING ORDERS

God has marching orders for you. These are not just words to hear and say Amen; but words to act upon, words from the mouth of Him whose words do not fall to the ground.

Genesis 12:1 NKJV
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

Abraham’s obedience to this marching order marked the beginning of a great shift in his life and generations, the dividends of which we are still benefiting from today.

True living according to the plan of God for us begins when we obey the first call to go out.

Go out from the delimiting community. God’s word to Abraham was “get out of your country, kindred and father’s house to a land I will show you and I will make of thee a great nation.”

God’s vision and plan for him could not be hatched in that community. He needed to go out from there.
Where is that place you need to leave so that the vision that God has for you will find expression?

Go out from the defiling company. Isaiah 52:11 says, “Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.”

2 Corinthians 6:18 “Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate and touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you.”
You’ll need to separate yourself from whatever thing that defiles, for you to enter into that calling that God has for you, for it is a Holy calling.

Go out from your destructive convenience. Micah 2:10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

When we take our rest where God has not marked as a resting place for us, we experience decay and destruction.

This is a call to an elevated status, a call to higher ground.

“Arise, Go up to Bethel and dwell there.” (Genesis 35:1).

As with Jacob, for you it might be an order to return to a place you have been, the place where you encountered Him at first. The call is not just to go there and have occasional touches with the presence, it is an order to dwell there.

Bethel ought to be not just a place of occasional visitation, but a place of perpetual habitation.

It’s also a call to rise higher in that which God has called you into. Come up hither and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.

Greater impact, results and victories lie ahead, but you must come up to that place where you can see it and seize it.

“You have dwelt too long on this mount, turn you and take your journey…” (Deuteronomy 1:6). Again He says, “Ye have compassed this mountain long enough, turn you northward.” (Deuteronomy 2:3)

By this order, He breaks every cycle of stagnation and enables you to make progress. God had constrained them from progressing till all that generation who rebelled against him had passed. They were making motions yet they remained stagnant. But now, He says it is time to move on for that season is over. And by His grace, He advances your steps that you might outrun even men on chariots that have gone before, for now, His hand is upon you, and by Him, you run through troops and even by your God, you leap over walls of limitations.

Judges 6:14 And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

A mighty man of valour has God called you. He has placed in you the sound of deliverance to bring liberation to captives. Though the task and assignment seems daunting, He calls forth the might which He has placed within you, not by your physical countenance but according to His power that is at work within you.

So rise, advance, conquer, and bring God the glory. His word declares that no man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As He was with the saints and those who have gone before, He is with you. Therefore, He says, be strong and very courageous. Stir up the gift and power of God within you and bring great deliverances for the glory of God. Amen.

Trust that these words have blessed you, please drop a comment and share with your community.

God bless you.

  5. I wonder what Abraham’s struggle would have been if he had remained in his father’s house.

There are locations and situations where expansion is impossible, even with fervent prayer (like Abraham making sacrifices in his father’s house), unless we obey the marching order- MOVE!
